Fight night is getting a whole lot grippier with Grip Star socks getting behind rising boxing star Benny Mahoney as he aims for his first Australian title this weekend.

The 25-year-old super welterweight will stand toe-to-toe with Kris George as the headline fight on a bumper night of boxing action at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on April 10.

The winner will claim the vacant Australian Super Welter Title, a highly contested belt that traces its history back to 1939.

To help Mahoney put his best foot forward, Grip Star has supplied the Gold Coast based boxer with their high-performance grip socks for his training and the high-profile bout as he seeks to extend his 10-0 record that includes six knock-outs.

The benefit of having Grip Star in your corner

Designed by athletes for athletes, Grip Star is quickly earning a reputation as the sock of choice in a variety of combat sports.

They are even being called ‘fight socks’ by athletes competing across a range of combat disciplines.

With their seriously grippy panels on the sock sole and advanced stay-dry design, Grip Star socks are a perfect addition for any fighter’s training – be in inside or outside the ring.

Mahoney is certainly one fighter that understands the value of a grippy stance after commencing his career in muay thai before switching to the sweet science.

Mahoney achieved viral headlines last year when his dynamic punching broke the jaw of opponent Ben Hussein in Brisbane.

Grip Star Director, Joel Mulvenney, said he delighted to be in Mahoney’s corner – at least, figuratively speaking – for what promises to be an epic battle on Saturday night.

“We are always looking to work with athletes from a variety of sports because Grip Star’s benefits of grip and comfort really are universal,” Mulvenney said.

“For fighters of all types the aim is to stay on your feet and to take your opponent off theirs, so any extra purchase and confidence you can get has got to be an advantage.

“We truly believe that once boxers, kick-boxers, mixed martial artists and others, try Grip Star socks for themselves, then they will feel the difference.
“More importantly for fighters though, their opponents will certainly feel the difference too.”

Tickets for the fight are available now from Ticketek.
